Overview
Thanehall specialises in designing and manufacturing advanced RF Switching Units that integrate custom communication interfaces, including Zigbee® and fibre optic technologies. These units are tailored to meet the specific requirements of clients, offering versatile and high-performance solutions for RF and optical signal management.
Client Project: 10-Channel RF and Optical Switching Unit
For one client, Thanehall developed a sophisticated RF unit featuring 10 RF channels capable of switching from DC to 6 GHz. This provided seamless interconnection to RF measurement devices, such as RF Power Meters (RF PM), Vector Network Analysers (VNA), and Spectrum Analysers (SPA). The unit also included optical switching capabilities, enabling connections around an Optical Transceiver (OTRX). This allowed for the measurement of optical power, the conversion of optical signals to RF for measurement by RF devices, and the generation of optical power at 1310 nm with RF modulation. Additionally, optical splitters were incorporated to facilitate signal monitoring, enabling multi-channel measurements via Optical Power Meters (OPM) and photodiode detectors.
Innovative Features
The unit was designed as a 3U rack-mounted system on sliders, facilitating easy access and maintenance. This design also enabled full 2-port calibration across all channels through e-cal kit integration. Its integrated measurement capabilities allowed seamless management of RF and optical signals for precise measurements, ensuring compatibility with a range of test equipment.
